VISITOR, TRANSIT, AND TOURIST VISA

Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining.
Letter of invitation accepting immigration responsibility or evidence of financial support while
in Nigeria from individual Nigerians or Nigerian organizations.
Applicants for transit visas must submit copies of their onward tickets and visas to their
destinations.
Children must submit copies of their birth certificates showing names of their two parents.
Children of Nigerian parents must submit copies of the information page of both parents
passport.
Tourist must submit copies of their certified hotel reservation statements.
Resident aliens inviting friends must submit copies of their resident permits and the
information page of their passports.
Aliens married to Nigerians or invited by Nigerians must submit copies of their hosts'
or spouses' passports and letters accepting responsibility.
BUSINESS/EDUCATION/RELIGIOUS VISA

Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 6
months remaining.

A business letter of responsibility is required,
stating the nature of the business to
be performed the name of the business reference to be visited,
guarantee sufficient financial support for the visit, and guarantee
return transportation to the USA.

The business letter should be signed
by a company officer other than the applicant. Typed on your company letterhead and
addressed to:
Embassy of NIGERIA
Visa Section, Washington DC.
If going for business, letters of invitation from companies or business organizations
stating the reason must be submitted
If going for religious purpose, approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Abuja,
Nigeria must be submitted
If going for educational visit, a letter of invitation from the host university of school
stating its purpose must be submitted
If a student, you must submit a copy of your identification card,
with an accompanying letter from your institution
Temporary work permit (TWP)
Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining.
Approval from Nigeria for temporary work permit (original copy)
Subject to regularization (STR)
Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining.
Completed application forms in quadruplicate
Four recent full face passport photographs
Four certified copies of expatriate quota approval from Nigeria
or approval from Nigeria for STR
Four certified copies of all credentials and certificates
Four copies of Letter of employment
Four copies of Letter of acceptance
All of the above should be submitted in four sets, not
separately.
Visa Information
- The Nigeria tourist or business visa is usually issued for entry
within three months of the issue date provided the passport remains
valid, for stay of 7 to 90 days, as granted by the Consulate.
- The visit must be completed prior to the expiry date of the visa.
- The multiple entries visa is valid six months for stay of 7-90 days
on each visit.
- Visa applications for clergy of persons traveling for any church
related purpose should be accompanied by approval letter from the
Nigerian Department of Immigration.
- Applications for children under 18 years if not accompanied by both
parents must also submit a letter of consent from the parents.
- Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and
contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued.
